Final results - Congratulations
- Posted: 16 January 2022 - 16:39
After final verification by the event Jury, we have now published the final results.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 edition of the Balloon Live Contest, thank you to all pilots who participated, all officials who helped in organising and scoring and the Jury for supporting us.
As we have had a little less pilots registering in this edition and therefore less entry fees, we could only now determine the final prizes after deducting some minor cost from the total of all income. I am sure the winners will be happy to receive the following final prizes:
1st - 900€
2nd - 450€
3rd - 250€
Thanks again to all,

We will start publishing results more regularly as of now. Here is the first version, as simple PDF for the moment. I hope we can further integrate the results into WMF.
Stay safe and have fun,

Ready, set, go!

The first flight is ready in Balloon Live. I also created a practice flight that you can choose to test the app and the sensor. Recordings of that flight will be ignored for scoring. Please make sure NOT to select "Flight 1" for testing.
The tokens to connect to the competition mode have also been sent out by email a few minutes ago. If you have not received yours, please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or directly in Whatsapp.
I would like to remind you of the following important points:
The Balloon Live Sensor (BLS) is mandatory and must be used. Make sure you have connected the BLS before starting a flight.
The Balloon Live App should absolutely be kept in the foreground on your phone to make sure the recording is done properly. You can read more details in the manual (https://balloonlive.org/downloads/) on page 15.
I wish you some great flights.

Flight Report form
The flight report form is a new feature of watchmefly.net. After your flight, please fill out the form so we get notified and have estimates of your results. You can find a tutorial here: https://watchmefly.net/blog/20210408-new-features.php in the video (starting at 15:50 and 19:05). You can also access the flight report form directly here: https://watchmefly.net/frf/.
I also added a practice flight in the competition setup. You can select that flight in the competition mode when starting the recording. This practice flight is meant for testing only and please do not record more than 10-15min with it.

General Briefing information - Official launch
- Posted: 1 May 2021 - 09:00
Dear Balloon Live Contest Pilots,
This is the so called “General briefing information” to start with the Balloon Live Contest 2021.
With no real General briefing, not even as an online meeting session, please read the following information and study the rules that are published.
As this is a decentralised competition, the rules have been slightly modified from the normal AXMER rules. In section III, the non-relevant parts have simply been deleted. The additional and new wordings are marked in green. The numbering of the rules has been adapted in section I and II, but not in section III.
As stated in the rules, questions may be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org up to 48 hours after the publication of these notes, e.g. on Monday 3rd of May at 09:00 UTC. Answers will be published here latest on Tuesday 4th of May at 09:00 UTC.
The publication of the first task sheet is planned for Wednesday.
A Whatsapp group has also been set up and you will receive an email to join the group. Please do not use the group for discussions as it is meant for announcements only. All request and questions should be addressed by email to email@example.com.
Thank you very much for participating in this new type of competition. I hope you are looking forward as much as we do to an exciting and challenging time.
All the best and good luck,
