Event Director Tips:

Find a mentor. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, but don’t expect someone to give you all the answers. Crew is a valuable asset and make this a team sport. Teach them how to help take the cognitive load off you by keeping track of timing, reminding of marker color and drop type. Fly safe and outside of the cockpit.

Task 1 - HWZ - Hesitation Waltz (Rule 15.3)
Position of Goals/Targets:
4670/0648 - MMA 100m
4790/0675 - MMA 100m
Marker Drop Gravity
Marker Color: Blue
Logger Marker: #1
Task order In Order
Scoring Period End: 09:30
Scoring Area: Entire Contest Area
Task Data:

Task data:

  • Position of various set goals/targets:
    1. 4670/0648
      • Open: 00:00-14:59
      • Open: 30:00-44:59
    2. 4790/0675
      • Open: 15:00-29:59
      • Open: 45:00-59:59

      ED Rationale:

GMD requires precision. Timing requires crew participation; ask the crew to monitor and call times if needed. Timed in order means mindfulness of the launch site and launch timing.

      Task 2 - ELB - Elbow (Rule 15.11)
      Logger Marker/s #1, #2, #3
      Task order In Order
      Scoring Period End: 09:30
      Scoring Area: Entire scoring area
      Task Data:

      Task data:

      • Description of Track Point “A”: Logger Mark 1
      • Description of Track Point “B”: Logger Mark 2
      • Description of Track Point “C”: Logger Mark 3
      • Minimum time duration from Track Point A to Track Point C: 15 minutes

The result is 180 degrees minus the angle ABC. The greatest result is the best.

      ED Rationale:

Using Logger Mark 1 gives task initiation. Elbow requires wind data planning and mindfulness of current conditions with previous tasks. Ask the crew to remind you of logger mark numbers.

Task 3 - PDG - Pilot Declared Goal (Rule 15.1)
      Logger Goal: #1
      Marker Drop None
      Logger Marker: #4
Declaration Method: Any Valid 4x4 on Contest Map
      Task order Any Order
      Scoring Period End: 09:30
      Scoring Area: Entire Contest Area
      Task Data:

      Task data:

      • Method of declaration: Logger Goal 1 with altitude 3D scoring > 500ft of target altitude.
      • Number of goals permitted: 1
      • Goals available for declarations: Any Valid 4x4 on the Contest Map
      • Minimum distance of goal from ILP as per TDS: 1 KM
      • Minimum distance of goal from any subsequent goal or target: 1KM
      • Minimum Distance from the declaration: Must be at least 2 KM from the declared goal when declared.

      ED Rationale:

Gives destiny to the pilot. Flexibility of when to execute based on flight planning. If before other tasks, be mindful of distances and altitude. Consider where you might be during or at the end of the other task if combined with other tasks. Notice distances from “goals,” not logger marks.
