Safety Plan and Risk Assessment
Summary of the organizers Safety Plan / Risk Assessment
Safety Plan and related risk assessment is a work in process with local police, fire and city officials. Details will be available and submitted with bid acceptance by January 2027. Fire and Emergency Medical Personnel are on site for all balloon activities. Local police will provide traffic and safety assistance.

During the flight times:
Safety officer, Chuck Walz, monitors all flight activities from launch through landing. He has direct communication available to emergency services.
Other:
Safety Officer monitors propane safety as well as launch, flight and balloon landing
Media Rights:
All media plans and rights will be determined and established after confirmation of the bid
Commercial Rights:
Local and regional sponsorships have been secured and available for years during the local event. The entire event is at the financial risk of West Michigan Balloon Events, and all sponsorship arrangements are made through that organization. Details of commercial rights will be finalized after confirmation of bid.
Event Budget:
The event budget will evolve over time but provides for first class accommodations, opening and closing ceremonies. Propane is provided for all competitive flights as well as the official practice flight if planned. Officials are provided a travel stipend. Much of the event’s expenses are provided with in kind donations from generous sponsors.

$1,000,000 combined single liability insurance is provided
Air Display Public Liability:
The organizer secures an Event Policy with coverage of all aspects of the event including non-owned aircraft
Organisers & Officials On-ground Risks:
The Event Poloicy provides coverage for all event volunteers as well as named additionally insured coverage for the Championship Director and Safety Officer.
