24 April 2021 - 30 April 2021

2021 Canowindra International Balloon Challenge
This year we will be running a competition and a fiesta program with balloons flying together. Competition and Fiesta flights will be held in the morning and afternoon.

The competition will use the Balloon Live app system for declarations and tracking on all flights. We are hoping the new FAI Balloon Live sensors will be available for the events by this time however this is not guaranteed due to manufacturing lead times. As per previous years we will be operating under a Permit from the CASA and the rules will be based on the current AXMER.

Schedule
Fiesta flights: Each day of the event
Competition Flights: Monday 26th April AM – Friday 30th April.

Canowindra International Balloon Challenge
Canowindra is a small but strong rural community situated in the picturesque and fertile Belubula Valley just a cruisy three and a half hours drive west of Sydney in New South Wales.

Our village has a long history of hot air ballooning dating back to the first modern Australian hot air balloon flight in 1966 and soon became known as the “Balloon Capital of Australia”.

Ballooning is a highly visual spectacle with competitions and fiestas featuring mass take-offs, creating excellent and unique opportunities to attract and entertain tourists of all ages and circumstances.

Every April since 2010 the town of bursts at the seams as in excess of 5,000 people come to see the spectacle of Australia’s largest hot air balloon festival.

This generates critical economic benefits to the town, the shire and the surrounding region and  flow to all aspects of the community including businesses, accommodation providers, other community organisations and charities.

Our team at the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge have been committed to producing a truly great experience. We are delighted to be noticed and awarded for the efforts of our committee, management and volunteers. Not bad for a town of 2,000!

Canowindra Challenge Incorporated (CCI) is a community organisation created in 2010. We plan, organise and operate the annual Canowindra International Balloon Challenge.
